How to Tie Tie Dye?

Gather a white or light-colored cotton shirt, tie-dye dye, rubber bands, gloves, plastic cover, and a squeeze bottle

Wash the shirt first and leave it slightly damp

Lay the shirt flat on a protected surface

Choose a folding method such as spiral, crumple, stripes, or bullseye

Pinch and twist the fabric for a spiral design

Fold the fabric into sections for stripes or accordion patterns

Pull fabric into a point and wrap bands for a bullseye pattern

Scrunch the shirt randomly for a crumple pattern

Secure the folded fabric tightly with rubber bands

Put on gloves

Apply dye to each section of the fabric

Flip the shirt and apply dye to the other side

Wrap the dyed shirt in plastic

Let it sit for the recommended time

Rinse the shirt with cold water until the water runs mostly clear

Remove the rubber bands

Wash the shirt separately

Dry the shirt according to the fabric care instructions
