Wash the skin immediately with soap and cool water
Clean under fingernails to remove plant oil
Remove and wash contaminated clothing, shoes, and tools
Apply cool compresses to the rash
Take short lukewarm baths with colloidal oatmeal or baking soda
Use calamine lotion or zinc oxide to relieve itching
Apply 1% hydrocortisone cream to affected areas
Take an oral antihistamine for itching if needed
Avoid scratching the rash
Keep the rash clean and dry
Use cool, loose-fitting clothing
Seek medical care if the rash is severe, widespread, on the face or genitals, or if there is swelling, fever, pus, or trouble breathing
Seek medical care if the rash does not improve after a few days
