Rest and stay hydrated
Use saline nasal irrigation or saline spray
Use a humidifier or take steamy showers to loosen mucus

Consider an over-the-counter pain reliever for headache/facial pain (acetaminophen or ibuprofen)
Consider intranasal corticosteroid spray (e.g., fluticasone) for congestion (follow label directions)
Use an over-the-counter antihistamine if allergies are contributing (e.g., cetirizine or loratadine)
Avoid smoking and strong fumes
Seek medical care urgently if symptoms are severe or worsening rapidly
Contact a clinician if symptoms last more than 10 days, worsen after initial improvement, or last beyond 3–4 weeks
Ask about antibiotics only if bacterial sinusitis is suspected by a clinician
Get evaluated promptly if you have high fever, significant facial swelling, severe headache, neck stiffness, vision changes, or confusion
