Use a barrier ointment such as petroleum jelly if advised by a clinician
Urinate in a warm bath or pour lukewarm water over the area while urinating if it stings
Rest and stay hydrated
Avoid using over-the-counter steroid or antibiotic creams unless prescribed
Seek medical care promptly if the ulcer is severe, spreading, recurrent, or very painful
Seek urgent care if you have fever, trouble urinating, heavy bleeding, or signs of infection
