Read the spray gun and paint manufacturer instructions
Wear a respirator, gloves, and eye protection
Work in a well-ventilated area
Cover nearby surfaces with drop cloths or masking materials
Stir and strain the paint before pouring it into the gun cup
Thin the paint if required by the manufacturer
Assemble the spray gun and connect it to the air supply or power source
Adjust the pressure, fan pattern, and fluid flow settings
Test the spray on cardboard or scrap material
Hold the gun 6 to 10 inches from the surface
Keep the gun perpendicular to the surface
Move the gun in smooth, even strokes
Start moving before pulling the trigger
Release the trigger before stopping the movement
Overlap each pass slightly
Apply thin, even coats
Let each coat dry before applying the next
Clean the spray gun immediately after use
Disassemble and rinse all paint-contact parts
Store the spray gun dry and protected
