Choose the correct stud finder mode (studs/AC wire) for your wall type
Turn on the stud finder and let it calibrate (if your model requires it)
Start scanning at a clear spot near the edge of the wall
Move the device slowly and steadily across the surface
Mark the first edge of the stud when the indicator signals
Continue scanning to find the opposite edge of the stud
Mark the center of the stud (or use the device’s center indicator)
Confirm the center mark by rescanning around the marked area
If your stud finder detects live electrical wiring, keep the device in wire-detection mode and avoid drilling there
Use a pencil to mark the stud center and any additional mounting points
Drill or drive fasteners at the marked stud center, following the hardware instructions
Remove dust/debris and verify the mount is secure before loading weight
