Install a fresh battery if needed
Turn on the stud sensor
Select the correct mode for drywall or deep scan if available
Place the sensor flat against the wall
Press and hold the calibration button if your model has one
Wait until the sensor indicates it is calibrated
Move the sensor slowly across the wall
Keep the sensor flat and steady while scanning
Watch for the stud indicator light, sound, or display signal
Mark the wall when the sensor detects the stud edge
Continue scanning from the opposite direction to find the other edge
Mark the second edge
Find the center between the two marks
Confirm the stud location by rescanning the area
Avoid moving too fast or lifting the sensor during use
Recalibrate if the sensor gives inconsistent readings
Test on a known stud area if accuracy seems off
Turn off the sensor after use
Clean the sensor and store it in a dry place
