Use a small flathead screwdriver or pick to lift the locking tab
Push the tail backward while holding the tab up
Cut the zip tie with scissors, wire cutters, or a utility knife
Use flush cutters for a cleaner cut
For reusable zip ties, press the release tab and pull the tail out
If the tie is tight on an object, slide a thin tool under the head to relieve pressure before releasing
Wear gloves and keep fingers clear of the cutting path
