Put on safety glasses and gloves
Choose the correct rivet size and rivet gun type
Drill a clean hole the same size as the rivet
Insert the rivet into the hole
Place the rivet gun on the rivet mandrel
Hold the gun straight and firmly against the work surface
Squeeze the handles or trigger until the rivet sets
Continue until the mandrel snaps off
Check that the rivet is tight and flush
Remove any broken mandrel pieces
Repeat for each rivet needed
