Drill out the damaged hole to the specified size for the insert
Tap the hole with the matching Helicoil tap
Clean out all chips and debris from the hole
Thread the Helicoil insert onto the installation tool
Apply a small amount of thread lubricant if needed
Screw the insert into the tapped hole until it is slightly below the surface
Remove the installation tool from the insert
Break off the tang if the insert has one
Inspect the installed insert to confirm it is seated properly
Install the bolt or screw into the new threaded hole
