Type the base number or letter
Select the character you want to make an exponent
Press Ctrl+Shift+= on Windows
Press Command+Shift+= on Mac
Click the Superscript button in the Home tab
Use the Font dialog box and check Superscript
Type the exponent after enabling superscript
Turn off superscript when finished by pressing the shortcut again or clicking the button again
