How to Disinfect a Needle?

Use a new, sterile, single-use needle whenever possible

Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water

Put on clean gloves if available

Clean the needle with soap and water if visibly dirty

Rinse the needle with clean water

Soak or wipe the needle with 70% isopropyl alcohol

Let the needle air-dry completely

If the needle is heat-safe and designed for reuse, sterilize it in an autoclave according to manufacturer instructions

Do not rely on boiling alone for true sterilization

Do not use bleach on needles intended for skin puncture unless specifically directed by a medical professional

Dispose of used needles in a proper sharps container

Seek professional guidance for any medical or injection-related needle use
