In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
Beat in eggs one at a time
Add lemon zest and lemon juice
Mix in milk or buttermilk
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients
Stir until just combined
Pour the batter into the prepared pan
Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes
Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely
Mix powdered sugar with lemon juice for a glaze, if desired
Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake
