How to Stop a Shaving Cut from Bleeding?

Rinse the cut with cool water

Apply firm, direct pressure with clean tissue, gauze, or cloth

Hold pressure continuously for 5 to 10 minutes

Keep the area raised if possible

Use a styptic pencil, alum block, or a small amount of petroleum jelly if available

Apply an ice cube wrapped in cloth to help constrict blood vessels

Do not keep checking the cut while pressing

Once bleeding stops, gently clean the area

Apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment or petroleum jelly

Cover with a small bandage if needed

Seek medical help if bleeding does not stop after 15 to 20 minutes of firm pressure

Seek medical help if the cut is deep, gaping, or caused by a dirty or rusty blade
