Scrub with steel wool or a wire brush
Soak in white vinegar for several hours
Scrub again with a scouring pad
Use baking soda and water paste on light rust
Apply lemon juice and salt, then scrub
Use a rust remover product as directed
Sand off stubborn rust with fine-grit sandpaper
Wipe clean and dry thoroughly
Apply a thin coat of oil to prevent new rust
Store tools in a dry place
