How to Cure Hematoma?

Rest the affected area

Apply ice packs for 15–20 minutes at a time during the first 24–48 hours

Elevate the area above heart level if possible

Use compression with a bandage if appropriate and not too tight

Take over-the-counter pain relievers if safe for you

Avoid massage or heat in the first 48 hours

Protect the area from further injury

Monitor for increasing pain, swelling, redness, warmth, or fever

Seek medical care if the hematoma is large, worsening, very painful, or not improving

Seek urgent care if it is on the head, causes numbness, weakness, trouble breathing, or follows a serious injury
