How to Handle a Knocked-Out Tooth?

Pick up the tooth by the crown, not the root

Rinse it gently with milk or saline if dirty

Do not scrub, dry, or wrap the tooth

Try to place the tooth back into the socket if possible

Bite gently on gauze or a clean cloth to hold it in place

If reinsertion is not possible, keep the tooth in milk, saline, or inside the cheek if safe

Get to a dentist or emergency room immediately

Seek care within 30 to 60 minutes if possible

Control bleeding with gentle pressure using gauze

Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling

Avoid touching the root or letting the tooth dry out

Do not store the tooth in water

If the person is a child, contact a dentist right away for guidance
