Move away from the bee to avoid more stings
Remove the stinger as soon as possible by scraping it out with a fingernail, credit card, or similar object
Wash the area with soap and water
Apply a cold pack or ice wrapped in cloth for 10 to 15 minutes at a time
Raise the affected area if possible
Take an over-the-counter pain reliever if needed
Apply a paste of baking soda and water or use calamine lotion for itching
Use an antihistamine if swelling or itching is bothersome, if safe for you to take
Avoid scratching the sting site
Seek emergency help if there is trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, dizziness, or widespread hives
Get medical care if swelling becomes severe, the sting is in the mouth or throat, or signs of infection develop
