Use a standard deck of cards
Deal all cards evenly to all players
Choose one player to start
On your turn, play one card that matches the top card by suit or rank
If you cannot play, draw one card
Follow any special rules the group has agreed on
Do not explain the rules to new players
If you break a rule, take a penalty as decided by the group
The goal is to get rid of all your cards first
The winner usually becomes the dealer or rule-maker for the next round
