Turn off the water supply
Open nearby faucets to drain remaining water
Place a bucket or towel under the leak
Dry the pipe completely
Identify the leak location
Tighten any loose fittings with a wrench
Apply plumber’s tape to threaded joints if needed
Use pipe repair tape or epoxy putty for a temporary fix
Replace a damaged washer, gasket, or O-ring if applicable
Cut out and replace damaged pipe sections if necessary
Install a pipe repair clamp for a quick temporary repair
Turn the water back on slowly
Check for leaks
Call a plumber if the leak continues or the pipe is badly damaged
