Turn off the water supply
Open the shower tap to release any remaining water
Remove the tap handle
Take out the cover plate if needed
Unscrew the valve or cartridge retaining parts
Inspect the washer, O-ring, cartridge, and seals
Replace any worn, cracked, or damaged parts
Clean mineral buildup from the tap components
Reassemble the tap
Turn the water supply back on
Test the tap for leaks and proper operation
Tighten fittings if leaks remain
Replace the entire cartridge or tap if the problem continues
