How to Fix Leaking Outdoor Faucet?

Turn off the water supply to the faucet

Open the faucet to drain any remaining water

Inspect the faucet for visible cracks, corrosion, or loose parts

Tighten the packing nut with a wrench

Replace the washer if the faucet drips from the spout

Replace the O-ring if the leak is around the handle

Remove and replace the entire hose bib if it is cracked or badly corroded

Apply plumber’s tape to threaded connections if needed

Reassemble the faucet securely

Turn the water supply back on

Check for leaks and tighten or replace parts as needed

Shut off and drain the faucet before winter to prevent freezing damage
