Test and balance pH, alkalinity, and chlorine levels

Brush pool walls, steps, and floor
Vacuum the pool thoroughly
Clean or backwash the filter
Run the pump longer each day
Shock the pool if needed
Use clarifier if water is cloudy
Check for algae and treat with algaecide if necessary
Empty skimmer and pump baskets
Maintain proper sanitizer levels regularly
