Soak a cedar plank in water for 1 to 2 hours
Preheat the grill to medium heat
Pat the salmon dry
Brush the salmon with oil
Season the salmon with salt, pepper, and desired herbs or spices
Place the soaked plank on the grill
Heat the plank until it starts to smoke lightly
Place the salmon skin-side down on the plank
Close the grill lid
Cook until the salmon flakes easily and reaches 145°F internal temperature
Remove the plank and salmon from the grill
Let the salmon rest for a few minutes before serving
