Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over medium heat
Add 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour and whisk until smooth
Cook the flour mixture for 1 minute
Slowly whisk in 1 cup milk or cream until the sauce is smooth
Season with salt and black pepper to taste
Add 2 cups peas, fresh or frozen
Stir and cook for 5 to 7 minutes until the peas are tender and the sauce thickens
Add a little more milk if the sauce becomes too thick
Serve warm
