Melt 1/2 cup butter in a saucepan over medium heat
Add 2 cloves minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds
Pour in 2 cups heavy cream
Simmer gently for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring often
Reduce heat to low
Stir in 1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
Add salt and black pepper to taste
Stir until smooth and thickened
Remove from heat
Toss with cooked pasta immediately
