Put on safety gear and move to an open area
Check fuel and oil levels
Make sure the switch is set to ON
Press the primer bulb several times
Set the choke to CLOSED or START
Lock the throttle if your model has a throttle lock
Place the trimmer on the ground securely
Pull the starter rope until the engine tries to start
Move the choke to HALF or RUN
Pull the starter rope again until the engine starts
Briefly squeeze the throttle to stabilize the engine
Move the choke fully to RUN after it starts
Let the engine warm up before use
