Clean and dry all furniture thoroughly before packing
Disassemble large pieces when possible
Keep screws, bolts, and small hardware in labeled bags
Wrap wood furniture in breathable moving blankets
Use plastic wrap only over moving blankets, not directly on wood
Cover upholstered furniture with fabric covers or clean sheets
Remove cushions and store them separately if possible
Protect glass, mirrors, and tabletops with cardboard and padding
Pad corners and edges with foam or blankets
Avoid sealing furniture in airtight plastic for long periods
Elevate furniture off the floor with pallets if needed
Leave space between items for air circulation
Store heavy items on the bottom and lighter items on top
Do not stack fragile pieces under weight
Use furniture covers that allow ventilation
Place moisture absorbers in the storage unit if allowed
Label all wrapped pieces for easy identification
Check that all items are completely dry before storage
Avoid storing items with food, liquids, or dirty fabrics
Inspect furniture periodically during storage if possible
