Make sure the car is parked, in Park or Neutral, and the parking brake is set
Pull the hood release lever inside the cabin
Listen for the hood popping up slightly
Go to the front of the car
Slide your fingers under the hood edge to find the secondary safety latch
Move the latch to the side or upward, depending on the vehicle
Lift the hood fully
If the interior release does not work, check the cable, latch, or fuse
If the hood is stuck, gently press down on the hood while someone pulls the release lever
If it still will not open, contact a mechanic or roadside assistance
