Wash your hands
Read the package instructions before use
Check the expiration date and make sure the seal is intact
Lie on your left side with your right knee bent, or use the position directed on the package
Remove the cap from the enema tip
If instructed on the package, apply a small amount of lubricant to the tip
Gently insert the tip into the rectum as directed on the package
Squeeze the bottle slowly until the prescribed amount is in
Remove the tip from the rectum
Stay in position until you feel the urge to have a bowel movement
Hold the enema only for the time directed on the package or by your doctor
Go to the bathroom and empty your bowels
Wash your hands again
Do not use more often than directed
Contact a healthcare professional if you have severe pain, bleeding, dizziness, or no bowel movement after use
