Pat the asparagus dry
Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat
Place the asparagus perpendicular to the grill grates or use a grill basket
Grill for 3 to 5 minutes, turning occasionally
Remove when tender and lightly charred
Serve immediately
