Place the frozen chicken in the refrigerator on a plate or in a bowl
Leave it to thaw until fully defrosted
Use cold water in a sealed leakproof bag for faster thawing
Change the cold water every 30 minutes
Use the microwave defrost setting only if cooking immediately after
Keep chicken separate from other foods during thawing
Cook the chicken as soon as it is fully defrosted
Do not thaw chicken on the counter at room temperature
Do not refreeze chicken after it has been thawed unless cooked first
