Measure the room and calculate the amount of vinyl flooring needed
Let the vinyl flooring acclimate if the manufacturer recommends it
Remove baseboards, trim, and doors if needed
Clear the room of furniture and obstacles
Clean the subfloor thoroughly
Repair cracks, holes, and uneven areas in the subfloor
Ensure the subfloor is dry, smooth, and level
Remove old flooring if necessary
Plan the layout and determine the starting point
Mark reference lines on the floor
Cut vinyl planks, tiles, or sheets to fit the space
Install underlayment if required
Apply adhesive if using glue-down vinyl
Lay the vinyl flooring according to the product instructions
Press each piece firmly into place
Use a roller if recommended by the manufacturer
Trim edges and cut around vents, corners, and doorways
Install transition strips where needed
Reinstall baseboards and trim
Clean the floor after installation
Avoid heavy traffic until the flooring is fully set or cured
