Apply an ice pack wrapped in a cloth for 10–15 minutes, then repeat every few hours for the first 24–48 hours
After 48 hours, switch to a warm compress (warm, not hot) for 10–15 minutes, 3–4 times a day
Gently massage the area for 1–2 minutes at a time to help increase circulation
Use a cold spoon: chill in the fridge, then hold on the hickey for 1–2 minutes, rest, and repeat
Apply a topical product with arnica or vitamin K according to label directions
Use makeup to cover it: green concealer for red/purple tones, then a skin-tone concealer and foundation
Stay hydrated and avoid rubbing or scratching the area
Avoid heat, alcohol rubs, and vigorous massage in the first 24–48 hours
If it’s not improving after about a week or it’s very large, consider seeing a clinician
