How To Plant Succulents?

Choose a pot with drainage holes

Use a fast-draining cactus/succulent potting mix

Select healthy succulents with firm leaves and no rot or pests

Lightly loosen roots if the plant is in compact soil

Let bare roots or cuttings callus for 1–3 days (if applicable)

Fill the pot with soil, leaving space for the root ball

Plant at the same depth as the original container

Press soil gently around roots without compacting too tightly

Keep leaves from touching wet soil

Water lightly after planting only if the plant was not recently cut/callused

Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings

Place in bright light (morning sun or strong indirect light)

Avoid direct harsh sunlight for the first few days after planting

Space multiple plants so they won’t crowd as they grow

Use a top dressing (grit/gravel) to reduce splash and keep leaves cleaner

Resume normal care once roots settle (usually after 1–2 weeks)

Monitor for soft stems, leaf drop, or shriveling and adjust watering accordingly
