Open Instagram
Go to your profile
Tap the menu icon
Tap Settings and privacy
Tap Messages and story replies
Tap Show activity status
Turn off Show Activity Status
Turn off Show when you’re active together if available
Turn off your activity status on all accounts you use
Log out after using Instagram if you want to avoid appearing active
Avoid opening direct messages if you do not want to show as active
Use airplane mode before opening the app if you need to check content privately
