Choose the candle type (container, pillar, or votive)
Select wax type and amount based on your candle size
Gather supplies: wick, wick tabs/holders, double boiler or melting pot, thermometer, pouring pitcher, mold or container, stirring utensil, fragrance and/or dye (optional), thermometer-safe mat or heat-resistant surface
Prepare the work area with heat-safe protection and ventilation
Clean and dry molds/containers
Attach wick to the center of the container (use wick tab or wick holder)
Preheat containers (optional for better adhesion in some waxes)
Measure wax and melt using a double boiler
Heat wax to the recommended melting temperature for your wax
Remove from heat and let cool to the recommended fragrance/dye addition temperature
Add fragrance and/or dye (if using) and stir gently and consistently
Pour wax slowly into containers or molds
Keep wick centered during pour
Let candles cool undisturbed until fully set
Trim wick to about 1/4 inch (6 mm) before curing or first burn
Cure candles for the recommended time (commonly several days to 2–4 weeks depending on wax and size)
Test burn in a safe area and verify proper pooling before regular use
