How To Headlight Adjustment?

Park the vehicle on level ground facing a flat wall or garage door

Check tire pressure and set it to the recommended level

Remove heavy cargo from the vehicle

Fill the fuel tank to about half or as specified in the manual

Make sure the suspension is at normal ride height

Turn on the low beams and mark the current beam centers on the wall

Measure the headlight height from the ground to the center of each headlight

Mark the same height on the wall with tape

Mark a vertical centerline for the vehicle and each headlight

Back the vehicle up to the recommended adjustment distance, usually 10 to 25 feet

Locate the headlight adjustment screws or dials

Adjust the vertical aim so the top cutoff of the beam is slightly below the headlight height mark

Adjust the horizontal aim so the beam is centered slightly to the right of the headlight centerline for right-hand traffic

Repeat for both headlights

Recheck the beam pattern after each adjustment

Test the lights on a road to confirm proper alignment

Follow the vehicle owner’s manual for model-specific adjustment steps
