Park the vehicle on level ground facing a flat wall or garage door
Check tire pressure and set it to the recommended level
Remove heavy cargo from the vehicle
Fill the fuel tank to about half or as specified in the manual
Make sure the suspension is at normal ride height
Turn on the low beams and mark the current beam centers on the wall
Measure the headlight height from the ground to the center of each headlight
Mark the same height on the wall with tape
Mark a vertical centerline for the vehicle and each headlight
Back the vehicle up to the recommended adjustment distance, usually 10 to 25 feet
Locate the headlight adjustment screws or dials
Adjust the vertical aim so the top cutoff of the beam is slightly below the headlight height mark
Adjust the horizontal aim so the beam is centered slightly to the right of the headlight centerline for right-hand traffic
Repeat for both headlights
Recheck the beam pattern after each adjustment
Test the lights on a road to confirm proper alignment
Follow the vehicle owner’s manual for model-specific adjustment steps
