Turn off the pool pump
Set the filter valve to the backwash position
Attach the backwash hose if required
Turn the pump back on
Run the pump until the water in the sight glass or discharge hose runs clear
Turn off the pump
Set the valve to rinse if your filter has a rinse setting
Turn the pump on for 20 to 30 seconds
Turn off the pump
Set the valve back to filter
Turn the pump on
Check the water level in the pool and refill if needed
Clean up and store the backwash hose if used
