Skim leaves, bugs, and debris from the surface
Empty skimmer baskets and pump basket
Brush pool walls, steps, and floor
Vacuum the pool manually or use an automatic pool cleaner
Test and balance the water chemistry
Adjust pH, chlorine, alkalinity, and calcium hardness as needed
Shock the pool if the water is cloudy or heavily used
Clean the filter cartridge, backwash a sand filter, or rinse a DE filter
Run the pump and filtration system long enough to circulate the water
Check the water level and add water if needed
Clean the pool tiles and waterline
