Park on a level surface and secure the vehicle
Chock the wheels
Raise the vehicle with a jack
Support the vehicle with jack stands
Remove the wheel
Remove the brake drum
Inspect the brake shoes, springs, wheel cylinder, and hardware
Locate the star wheel adjuster
Turn the adjuster to expand the shoes until the drum fits snugly
Rotate the drum by hand while adjusting
Back off the adjuster slightly until the drum spins with light drag
Reinstall the brake drum
Reinstall the wheel
Lower the vehicle
Pump the brake pedal several times
Test the brakes at low speed
Readjust if needed
