How to Adjust Front Derailleur Gears?

Shift the chain onto the smallest front chainring and largest rear cog

Loosen the front derailleur cable anchor bolt

Set the derailleur cage height so the outer plate sits 1–3 mm above the large chainring teeth

Align the derailleur cage parallel to the chainrings

Tighten the derailleur clamp bolt securely

Turn the low-limit screw until the inner cage plate sits just clear of the chain on the smallest ring

Reattach the cable with light tension and tighten the anchor bolt

Shift to the middle or largest rear cog and check for smooth movement onto the next chainring

Use the barrel adjuster to add or reduce cable tension until shifting is crisp

Turn the high-limit screw until the outer cage plate sits just clear of the chain on the largest chainring

Shift through all front gears and fine-tune cable tension as needed

Check for chain rub in each gear combination

Readjust limit screws and cable tension if the chain overshifts, hesitates, or rubs

Test ride and make final small adjustments if necessary
