Rinse the bike with water to remove loose dirt
Wash the affected area with mild soap and water
Dry the bike completely
Apply white vinegar or lemon juice to the rusted area
Let it sit for a few minutes
Scrub gently with a nylon brush, cloth, or crumpled aluminum foil
Wipe away loosened rust
Repeat if needed
For stubborn rust, apply a bike-safe rust remover according to the label
Rinse the area thoroughly after using rust remover
Dry the bike completely again
Apply lubricant to moving metal parts after cleaning
Polish the cleaned area with a dry cloth
Prevent future rust by storing the bike in a dry place
Keep the bike clean and dry after rides
Apply protective wax or anti-rust spray to exposed metal parts
