Register as a Housing Choice Voucher landlord
Review Section 8 program requirements
Ensure the unit meets Housing Quality Standards (HQS)
Set a rent amount within the PHA’s approved limits
Advertise the unit to voucher holders
Screen applicants using lawful, consistent criteria
Accept a qualified voucher holder tenant
Complete the required lease and tenancy paperwork
Submit the Request for Tenancy Approval form
Schedule and pass the PHA inspection
Sign the Housing Assistance Payments contract
Collect the tenant portion of rent each month
Maintain the property to program standards
Report required changes to the PHA
Follow all federal, state, and local landlord-tenant laws
