Use a kitten milk replacer, not cow’s milk
Warm the formula to body temperature
Hold the kitten on its belly, never on its back
Use a kitten bottle or syringe with a proper nipple
Let the kitten suckle at its own pace
Keep the bottle angled so the nipple stays filled with formula
Do not force formula into the mouth
Feed small amounts slowly
Burp the kitten gently after feeding
Wipe the kitten’s face and body clean after feeding
Stimulate the kitten to urinate and defecate after each feeding if needed
Feed newborn kittens every 2 to 3 hours
Feed older kittens less often as they grow
Prepare fresh formula for each feeding
Discard any leftover formula after feeding
Keep feeding equipment clean and sterilized
Monitor the kitten’s weight daily
Watch for coughing, choking, or milk coming from the nose
Contact a veterinarian if the kitten refuses to eat or seems weak
