Avoid soaking the area in baths, pools, or hot tubs unless approved

Protect the stitches from rubbing or pulling

Do not pick at scabs or stitches

Watch for signs of infection such as redness, swelling, warmth, pus, or worsening pain

Seek medical care if the wound opens, bleeds heavily, or the stitches come out early

Take prescribed medications as directed

Return for stitch removal if instructed
