Locate the water filter housing
Turn the old filter counterclockwise or press the release button, depending on model
Pull the old filter straight out
Remove the protective cap from the new filter, if present
Align the new filter with the housing
Insert the new filter fully into the housing
Turn the new filter clockwise until it locks, or push it in until it clicks, depending on model
Run several gallons of water through the dispenser
Check for leaks
Reset the filter indicator light, if your model has one
