Park on a level surface and let the engine cool
Locate the power steering reservoir
Check the fluid level and condition
Raise the front of the vehicle if needed and secure it with jack stands
Place a drain pan under the system
Remove fluid from the reservoir with a turkey baster or syringe
Disconnect the return hose if a full flush is needed
Drain the old fluid into the pan
Reconnect the hose securely
Refill the reservoir with the correct type of power steering fluid
Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock with the engine off
Start the engine and turn the wheel from lock to lock again
Check the fluid level and top off as needed
Inspect for leaks
Repeat the drain and refill process if necessary until the fluid looks clean
