How To Clean A Throttle Body?

Gather throttle body cleaner, clean lint-free rags, soft brush, screwdriver or socket set, and gloves

Turn off the engine and let it cool completely

Disconnect the negative battery terminal

Remove the air intake duct or hose to access the throttle body

Inspect the throttle body for dirt and carbon buildup

Open the throttle plate carefully by hand if possible

Spray throttle body cleaner onto a lint-free rag or soft brush

Wipe the inside of the throttle body and throttle plate

Clean the edges and backside of the throttle plate

Remove all visible carbon deposits and grime

Avoid spraying excessive cleaner directly into electronic components

Repeat wiping and cleaning until the surfaces are clean

Reinstall the air intake duct or hose

Reconnect the negative battery terminal

Start the engine and let it idle

Check for smooth idle and proper throttle response

Repeat cleaning if necessary during future maintenance intervals
