Unplug the coffee maker and let it cool completely
Remove the carafe, filter basket, and any removable parts
Wash removable parts with warm water and mild dish soap
Rinse all parts thoroughly and dry them
Fill the water reservoir with equal parts white vinegar and water
Place the empty carafe on the warming plate
Run a full brew cycle
Turn off the machine and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes
Run another brew cycle with the vinegar solution
Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe
Run two to three full cycles with clean water
Wash the carafe and removable parts again if needed
Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth
Clean the warming plate with a soft, damp cloth
Dry all parts before reassembling
Repeat descaling every 1 to 3 months depending on use and water hardness
